Aves Universeel Insectile Food
1. Insectile Fine
(Universeel-A)
Small insectivorous birds are e.g. Todies, Barbets, Woodpeckers, Manakins,
Cotinga’s, Pipra’s, Larks, Pitpits, Bulbuls, Leafbirds, Waxwings, Thrushes,
Titmice, Flower peckers, Sunbirds, White-eyes, Honeyeaters, Tanagers, and
indigenous Finches.
The basic diet for small insectivorous birds consists of a mixture of 30 gram
biscuit meal, 1 spoonful of INSECTILE-Fine and a hard boiled peeled egg. For
preparation see Aves-Start. INSECTILE-Fine is a homogenous diet without
identifiable components, such as dried insects. Selection of specific components
is not possible and the occurrence of nutrient deficiencies is therefore
prevented. Depending on the species, these birds also consume some fruit (with
Aves-Fruitmix-low iron), Avesnectar, and live food such as buffalo worms,
mealworms, wax worms, crickets and flying insects.
2. Insectile Coarse (Universeel-B)
Large insectivorous birds are e.g. Touracos, Mouse birds, Trogons, Motmots,
Bee-eaters, Hoopoes, Hornbills, Jacamars, Barbets, Toucans, Woodpeckers,
Broadbills, Cotinga’s, Flycatchers, Sparrows and Troupials.
The basic diet for large insectivorous birds consists of a mixture of lean meat,
bread, egg and INSECTILE-Course. Depending on the bird species some of these
bird species also consume fruit (with Fruitmix-low iron) and Avesnectar. All
these birds consume live food as well. Depending on the bird’s preference, they
eat parts of day-old chicks, crickets, grasshoppers, locusts, mealworms and
morioworms. The nutritional value of insects can be increased by using Aves-Mealwormfood
or Aves-Insect dusting powder.
Preparation:
Mix 100 g ground dried bread with 1 spoonful of INSECTILE Course. Add 100 g
ground lean meat or heart and 1 hard boiled egg. Mix thoroughly. Store in the
refrigerator or freezer. Prepare 2-3 times a week a fresh portion of food.

200 g Insectile Course for 8 kg food.
