Aves Fruitmix-Start
Premix to prepare a complete rearing diet for frugivorous birds, such as
Touracos, Mouse birds, Trogons, Mynahs, Hornbills, Barbets, Toucans, Broadbills,
Cotingas, Pipras, Bulbuls, Leafbirds, Waxwings, Flower peckers White-eyes,
Tanagers, Birds of Paradise, Troupials, Fruit doves and Eclectus Parrots
Low iron contents of 40 mg/kg (40 ppm) to avoid iron
intoxication (hemosiderosis and hemochromatosis).
Newborn frugivorous birds are fed different kinds of insects
and insect larvae, day-old mice etc. The nutritional value of insects can be
increased by using Aves-Mealwormfood or Aves-Insect dusting powder. When the
young mature, the parents will offer the youngsters the same diet as their own.
The standard Fruitmix diet should be exchanged for Fruitmix Start, with
increased protein, calcium and other nutrients to support gain, feather growth
and skeleton development.
Preparation:
1 part (as per weight) figs, juniper berries, rose-hips, rowanberries
4 parts (as per weight) apple, pear, orange, carrot, banana, raisins, dates
- Wash, peel and cut the fruit and berries
- Mix and weigh it
- Spread it over a large surface
- Sprinkle (using a coarse sieve) one part (as per weight) of FRUITMIX over
10 parts of the fruit mixture. Mix thoroughly.
If the mixture is a too moist, add some dried bread to have the moisture
absorbed. Offer the birds, depending on their size, also Aves-Insectile Fine
or Course, crumbled cuttlefish bone, oyster shell grit, insoluble grit, a
limited quantity of seeds, drinking- and bathing water.
Contents: 800 gram for 8,8 kg of fruit diet
